Busy Bee!

I’ve just finished recording a 5 song EP for my new music project “Thank You and Goodbye.” I’ve finished the mixing with help of audio engineer Jameson Beaver, and the tracks should be mastered within the next week or so, and ready to release. I’m also working on a brand new portfolio site for all of my film, music, and photography work. Also, me and 2 friends from Flying Dog Films are getting ready to start up a really cool interactive video blog site. We are going to be making short film episodes where viewers can suggest what happens next. Other than that, I’m leaving tomorrow morning to work for the Harvest of Hope music festival as part of the camera crew. Should be fun. Lots of work, but fun!

Wall Street Riots "One More Ride" video up!
Posted on 15 Aug 2009 by Chris

I'm at it with UK band Wall Street Riots once again! Last year they flew me out to shoot their first single, "Lords of Dogtown." This time I shot their single "One More Ride" in my hometown, Winter Park FL. The band wasn't able to make it to the US for the shoot, so it's a full concept video, which I'm really excited about. I had a fun time shooting it and it was my first action video, which was a great learning experience. The whole video was once again shot gorilla style. No permits, just me and some friends running through the city getting shots, running in front of trains, and in some cases due to the Florida heat, throwing up. sad

2 new videos up

I've added 2 new videos to the film section, Luna Halo's music video for "World on Fire," and my newest demo reel. The World on Fire video has been a work in progress for quite some time now, dating back to last year. The band had stopped by FL while they were touring with switchfoot, where we had a shoot set up for them on a green screen. I was director, Matt Hutchens was DP, and Matt Tinley did vfx work. The reason the project took so long was due to the fact that it was a collaborative effort and none of us were getting paid, so we had to work around each other's schedule and free time. The video was made by scanning old newspapers and customizing our own ads using photoshop and after effects. Matt Hutchens and I built a miniature model of a drive in Movie Theater using Popsicle sticks for a fence, and hot wheels cars. We then projected the shots of the band onto the small screen. The UFO's were made using plates and bowls and spinning them on strings, and we also built the godzilla costume, which I was wearing in the scene. If you pay attention to the text flying by, there are quite a few inside jokes between us and subliminal text. I also have a small cameo as a communist, and Matt Hutchens and Matt Tinley have a cameo as well being zapped by the aliens. And as for the new demo reel, well, that pretty much speaks for itself.

New Website!

That's right, the new website is finally up and running! Feel free to snoop around in the film and photography section, I'm hoping to have a music section as well as comedy soon enough. I was taking a break for a while, but I'm back! I'm going to have more videos on the way relatively soon. I've sort of just been hanging out, enjoying being out of school, and writing music for a band I'm going to be starting. It's a slow process, but I'm going to have a lot of fun with it. laughing

As I'm sure you'll notice, I have a new music video up for the Wall Street Riot's single "Lords of Dogtown." This is a music video I shot late September In LONDON! (the guys made the decision to hold off on the premiere until now.) The band flew me out and we all had an awesome time. They didn't have much of a budget, but we worked well with what little resources we had. I was there for a week, and stayed with the Bassist, Mike. They were all really good guys, and now I have a few friends in London if the opportunity to couch hop presents itself, as they have a place to crash in Florida as well. smile

The first day I got into London I was a bit apprehensive, seeing as I arrived on what was a "Bank Holiday" in the UK, and London had gone conclusively mental. I called Mike to meet me at the airport as soon as I arrived. Because of the parades going on throughout all of central London and Notting Hill, it was a hassle to get to his house, most people in London don't have the luxury of driving their own cars. We had to take lot's of busses, trains, and even walk long distances, because a lot of vital roads had been shut down from the parades. The band felt really bad about my first impression and offered to make it up to me by taking me to see whatever I wanted in London. The rest of the week went really smooth. The first few days I scouted locations with the band, and completed a solid plan for shooting that everyone was comfortable with.

We shot the video in 2 days. The first day, I got all of the cutaway scenes. These scenes revolve around the band's singer, Charlie, recruiting members for the bank heist he has in mind. About 80% of this was improvised and shot gorilla style. For instance, the scene where Charlie recruits the "demolitions expert" whose assigned job is to blow up the vault of the bank. We needed a shot of him getting on a train to meet Charlie. Getting permits for things like this is hard enough to do in the U.S, and much harder to get approved in England. We had to jump on a train and film from the time it made it to the next stop, before we got in any kind of trouble. The second day was easy sailing, one location in a warehouse where the band plots their robbery and master plan. We shot all through the night, and I had a few days to relax, watch movies, and see a bit of downtown London before my flight home.
